It looks as if our new Secretary of State for Housing, Michael Gove, has already stamped his authority on the Ministry of Housing and Communites and Local Government by rebranding. The department will now be know as the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Or to use the catchy acronym, DLUHC.

The eagle eyed amongst you will spot that “Local Government” has been dropped and confirms the whispers in Whitehall that Mr Gove is not a fan of local councils.

Interestingly “levelling up” is the same wording the government use when they talk about addressing the balance of rights in the housing market. We’ll leave you to decide which way the balance is likely to tip …..

Perhaps it is just that Michael wanted a new logo and stationery.
