An updated How to Rent Guide has been released today.

The changes include new advice on how tenants can access free legal aid services, advice and support, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The guide must be issued before your tenants move in for the first time, when you renew a tenancy with the same tenants, or when a tenancy becomes statutory periodic. Not providing the Guide accurately can mean any Section 21 notice that you issue will be invalid, so serving it at the correct time is important.

A PDF version (not a link!) can be served electronically but you need to have the tenants consent to use email.

The latest guide can be found here.
