Changes to Notice Periods

As the pandemic continues to dominate our lives the light at the end of the tunnel for landlords was that the six month notice periods for Section 21’s and Section 8’s (most grounds) were due to come to an end on the 31st March 2021.
It is not to be however, as the Government have announced that this deadline will be extended until the 31st May 2021.
This also applies to Baliff evicitions. So, if you are able to obtain a Court order you will not be able to ask a baliff to evict until the end of May except in the cases of serious domestic abuse, anti social behaviour or severe rent arrears.
As Wales have announced an extention until the end of June, don’t be surprised to see this extended again in England.
